Camping with Horses
Dates:
June 7-10 2024
Duration:
4 days/3 nights
Riding Level:
Beginner - Advanced
A great introduction to camping with horses, this 2-night getaway to Indian Creek Campground provides a safe space to overnight horses, and room to tent camp with access to amenities such as restrooms and water. (There is room for LQ trailers or campers, but no hookups) Ride with the trip leader on the Indian Creek Trail, a mellow, wooded trail with no motorized vehicles.
Bring your own horse and a tent (or we can provide one if needed) and we will take care of the rest. Meals around the campfire with fellow equestrians sharing a love for trail riding, nature, horses, and adventure.
Horses
Bring your own horse - Stalls at each camp site allow you to camp out right next to your horse! Please read the Guest Horse Guidelines if you plan to bring your horse. Owners are responsible for their own feed, cleaning, and care.
Riders of any discipline are welcome, but must be saddled (no bareback riding with the group). Riders must bring all their own tack and equipment.
Riding
Intermediate-Advanced. Since riders are bringing their own horses, a minimum of intermediate level riding is required. Accompanying non-riders are welcome to join for camping and meals.
Distance: There are several trail loop options and the riding distance will depend on the group. Approximately 8-15 miles.
Ride Time: 3-6 hours
Terrain
We will be riding on the Indian Creek Trail, predominately through pine forests on dirt single-track. The footing is mostly soft with some rocky areas. Shoes or boots for horses are always recommended but not compulsory.
The trail can be an out-and-back or a loop. The loop is a total distance of +/- 15 miles. The group will decide together how far everyone would like to ride, so that we may ride a distance which makes everyone comfortable.
Accommodation
Camp in a tent or trailer/camper. Camp sites are dry sites only - no electric, water, or sewer hookups for rigs. There are drop toilets on the premises as well as a water pump.
