Camping with Horses
2025 Dates:
June 18-21
Duration:
4 days/3 nights
Riding Level:
Beginner - Advanced
This 3-night getaway to Winding River Resort Campground provides a safe space to overnight horses, and ride along the western edge of Rocky Mountain National Park - the area is ripe with wildlife, minus the traffic that frequents the other side of the park. Pack your tent, RV, LQ trailer, or rent a room in the lodge.
Bring your own horse and we will take care of the rest. Meals around the campfire with fellow equestrians sharing a love for trail riding, nature, horses, and adventure.
Horses
Bring your own horse - Stalls at each camp site allow you to camp out right next to your horse! Please read the Guest Horse Guidelines if you plan to bring your horse. Owners are responsible for their own feed, cleaning, and care.
Riders of any discipline are welcome, but must be saddled (no bareback riding with the group). Riders must bring all their own tack and equipment.
Riding
Intermediate-Advanced. Since riders are bringing their own horses, a minimum of intermediate level riding is required. Accompanying non-riders are welcome to join for camping and meals.
Terrain
We will be riding in the vicinity of Rocky Mountain National Park, and true to its name, it’s a rather rocky region. Boots or shoes are always recommended for horses. Trails will vary.
Accommodation
Camp in a tent or trailer/camper, with electric and water hookup. There are drop toilets on the premises as well as a water pump, and showers are available in the main lodge.
