Nkomazi is a private game reserve and World Heritage Site consisting of 15,000 hectares where the Lowveld meets the Highveld, home to lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, elephant and plains wildlife such as, wildebeest, hartebeest, zebra and giraffe to name but a few. The reserve offers continuous beauty as one explores. Open plains, hills, rocky koppies, rivers and mountains. There is something that makes one feel very alive riding through big game country like early pioneers explorers did.
Enjoy stays with flexible dates and duration - beginning any day of the year, stay a minimum of 2 nights or as long as you wish. Enjoy a luxury tented lodge, private pools, to-die-for meals, and wonderfully warm South African hospitality.
Horses
Horse breeds on safari range from Thoroughbreds to Boerperd (a South African breed) to Percheron crosses, along with a variety of mixes. Horses are selected based on their good temperament in the bush and stamina for long days covering distance during safaris. The horses have been exposed to all the wildlife seen on safari and are comfortable in this environment.

Terrain consists of open, grassy plains, hills, rocky outcrops, rivers, and mountains.

Cuisine
After a long day in the saddle, you are sure to work up an appetite! You will not be disappointed by the delectable cuisine on offer in the lodge. Enjoy hearty meals, scrumptious snacks, and warm hospitality. Dietary restrictions may be accommodated with advanced notice.
Itinerary
Since the horses are not situated right at the lodge; you will be transported daily to the horse for your rides by shuttle. Ride length will be weather dependent. In summers, rides will be during early mornings and late afternoons. In winter, rides are only restricted by meal times. On average rides last for 2-3 hours at a time depending on game sightings.
