Dates:
October 25-27 2024
*tentative
Duration:
3 days/2 nights
Riding Level:
Intermediate/Advanced
Join the heart-pounding excitement of the annual Antelope Island State Park Bison Roundup in Utah, a unique and thrilling event where you can bring and ride your own horse. Join the ranks of seasoned riders as you navigate the scenic landscapes of Antelope Island, surrounded by the iconic Great Salt Lake. As you actively participate in the bison roundup, you and your horse will be an integral part of preserving the delicate ecosystem and maintaining the health of the bison population. This extraordinary experience allows you to combine your love for horseback riding with the conservation efforts of the American West, creating memories that echo the spirit of the Wild West and contribute to the preservation of this iconic species.
Horses
Bring your own horse - Must be self contained, either with portable corrals, highline (tied to a trailer or otherwise portable), or electric fence.
Please read the Guest Horse Guidelines if you plan to bring your horse. Owners are responsible for their own feed, cleaning, and care.
Riders of any discipline are welcome, but must be saddled (no bareback riding with the group). Riders must bring all their own tack and equipment.
Riding
Intermediate-Advanced. Since riders are bringing their own horses, a minimum of intermediate level riding is required. Accompanying non-riders are welcome to join for camping and meals.
Terrain
The terrain in southern Utah is rocky, often steep or narrow. Horses and riders should be prepared for challenging terrain. Horseshoes/boots are always recommended for more difficult trails.
Accommodation
Camp in a tent or trailer/camper. Sites are dry sites only with no hookups. Potable water is available, as well as a community water trough for the horses. Portable bathrooms on site.
Dining
Hearty breakfasts and dinners around the campfire will be provided. Guests must provide their own lunches, snacks, and alcoholic beverages. Dietary restrictions, allergies, vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free can all be accommodated with advanced notice. There will be a chili dinner for all riders following the roundup.
